Yuji is a young man who moved to Tokyo from a rural area after passing university. In order to save on living expenses, his uncle Saeyama introduces him to a cheap apartment, but he can't hide his bewilderment because it is so dilapidated. However, when he meets Yui, a widowed landlord, he is captivated by her beauty. Yuji is drawn to Yui's kindness, as she never stops smiling and takes care of her, even though she has just lost her husband. One day, when he goes to Yui's room, he happens to witness Saeyama and Yui getting into an intense relationship.
