Special investigator Kana Kurosaki is assigned to hunt serial rapist and murderer X, an unidentified criminal with no known name, background, or usable photograph. Her father Goro, himself a former investigator, died in the line of duty while pursuing the same case. Kana seeks help from Eiji Kagami, her father's former subordinate and the man believed to have come closest to X. But Kagami is X himself. Fascinated by Kana, he drugs her into unconsciousness, setting his trap in motion.
