The literary porn-drama series Japanese Art Romance Library adapts “Social Responsibility” from a collection by Hiromi Hiraguchi, a popular creator of assault-themed erotic manga in the 1980s. Spanning the Showa and Heisei eras, this road mystery follows a highly educated doctor who targets nine women, including nurses, married mature women, a university lecturer, and hikers in the mountains. After a series of rapes and disappearances across four cities, a 45-year-old former doctor turned loan shark is placed on the wanted list. Months later, he meets two educated mature hikers in a Nara gorge, stays at the same hot-spring inn, then races ahead and ambushes them in an abandoned mountain village. He assaults both women in succession and rapes and creampies the bustier hiker, but she seizes an opening and smashes a large sake bottle over his head. More than a decade later, the man reappears, setting the tragic road mystery in motion once again.
