Kenji, the middle of three adult brothers, had always seemed like the child who required the least attention from his mother, Honami. One spring, his older brother moves out for work, his younger brother enters a residential school, and his father takes a distant assignment, leaving Kenji and Honami alone together. The suddenly silent house fills her with a sense of loss. Hurt and frustrated that she still seems preoccupied with his brothers, Kenji begins yearning to have all of his mother's love for himself.
