After her husband died when their son Manabu was still young, mother and son lived alone together. As his twentieth birthday approaches, he looks more and more like his father, filling her with both maternal pride and a woman’s bittersweet longing for the man she lost. Manabu also becomes tipsy and starts clinging to her with an intimacy that crosses the line between adult son and mother.
