The first animated adaptation of Katsuya Takayanagi's Twisting the Thread recreates the original comic's delicate, strangely realistic style with in-motion technology. In “Snail,” an adult school-role-play track athlete waits alone at a remote bus shelter in pouring rain when her nerdy classmate appears. Soaked through, they chat with the easy familiarity of a school break. His unusual desires gradually surface, and she responds as the two come to accept one another. When the rain clears, they sit beneath the open sky, satisfied in different ways and lost in thought.
