On a spring day as the cherry blossoms began to open, an email led us all the way to Tohoku. Waiting at the station was Shuri, a tall, slender 26-year-old mother with long limbs who hardly looked as though she had given birth, and a charming little snaggletooth that showed when she smiled. The breast-milk stains spreading across the clothes of a married woman we barely knew left us embarrassed yet aroused by the forbidden thrill, so we slipped away to a nearby hotel with her.
